Thirty students from Yoder International Academy competed in the World Scholar’s Cup Regional competition in Hsinchu on March 10-11. Returning with 75 silver, 39 gold, and two trophies, the students worked hard and showcased their increasing skills in debate, writing, and general knowledge.
The World Scholar’s Cup is an international academic competition with four major events: debate, collaborative writing, exam, and team quiz bowl. The questions and material concentrate on a vast array of topics and ideas which the students studied and practiced before arriving in Hsinchu.
Some notable competitors are Nita Hsu, Luna Liao, and Kenneth Yap, who scored 3rd place in debate and 5th place in the quiz bowl, and Doris Liang, Chrystal Hutabarat, and Zoe Chen, who scored 9th place in writing – all competing against 130 other teams from international schools across Taiwan.
Yoder would like to thank all the parents and teachers who supported the students throughout this journey and those who will be going on to the Global Round in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this June.
